Save Everything

Save Everything

We apparently never threw out anything in our 48 years together. This morning she found the receipt for her wedding rings folded up in the ring box. That was pretty much all the money we had at the time. She still wears that ring every day.

I snapped this photo eight years ago when that little boy turned 10. Today he’s 18. On the day he officially comes of age, his paternal grandparents celebrate the 48th anniversary of their first meeting, a Crab Louie dinner. We still have one of the crab claws. It’s all amazing to me.

On this date long ago in the Territory of Alaska, a child was born. On the darkest day of the year she was a light that still shines for our family. Another year. She still amazes me.

The Light Of My Life

The Light Of My Life

On this date long ago in Ketchikan, Territory of Alaska a child was born. A little beacon of light on the darkest day of the year. She continues to amaze me that she has survived her journey into the dark world of stroke survivor which began in 2009. The doctors told me repeatedly her odds of making it were slim. Yet here she is, still brightening our family’s world with a smile, not a voice. Despite that madness the madness that seems to have us in its grip, there is still goodness in this world. Celebrate it, people.
